You Need to Read These!

If you are building or renovating

In case you missed it the first time, here’s a handy list of must-read resources if you’re building or renovating. From planning tips to design inspiration, everything you need is in the post!

What’s been the most helpful resource for your project so far?

MAKE THE HOME YOU LOVE (Book)

This book explains the Irish architectural process, terms and gives well illustrated case studies of real Irish projects.

RIAI Working With An Architect

RIAI working with an Architect (downloadable PDF) explains the project stages and other things to consider before starting your project.

RIAI Website

Lots of resources, including FAQs and Top Tips from Architects. You can also find a list of registered Architects in Ireland.

The Handbook of Home Design (book)

Explains how to read floor plans and gives a glossary of frequently used terms in residential architecture. Lovely sketches and UK based project examples.

Make it stand out

This is a downloadable PDF. A less technical explanation of the fire regulations involved in making an attic conversion (for a habitable room, i.e. bedroom). I send this to clients all the time.
